Why Does This Matter?

Companies are relying on Electronic Product Code (EPC®)-enabled item level Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for:

  • Flexible fulfillment options
  • Item level inventory visibility
  • Product authenticity
  • Display compliancy
  • Optimizing back-to-front operations
  • Pick/Pack accuracy
  • Inbound receipt validation
  • Outbound validation

RFID tagging provides the foundation for actionable intelligence, which companies are using to improve their business processes and bottom lines.

Getting Started

Our expert panel will go over the 6 most important steps in implementing a successful RFID program

1. Understanding the Request
The more you understand about the specific uses of RFID and any requirements your trading partners may have, the easier it will be to turn your plan into action.
2. Building Your Team
EPC-enabled RFID technology touches multiple functions within your organization, including procurement, logistics, marketing, and technology. Make sure you bring together a cross-functional team for the best result.
3. Tagging Your Product
Determine what product(s) need to be tagged, what information should be encoded in the tags, as well as the tag’s placement and intended usage.

4. Managing the Unique ID
Use a Serialized GTIN®, or SGTIN, to uniquely identify each product instance. Work with an RFID technology partner or manage the label serialization yourself.
5. Defining and Purchasing Equipment and Secure Services
Know your scanning environment and consider where the tags will be read—the factory, warehouse, distribution center, fulfillment center, or store.
6. Bringing it All Together
Continually testing feedback, data exchange, supplier scorecarding, and planning for expansion and growth.
